Visa
for Spain: Citizens and residents of the
European Union do not need visa in Spain. With a
valid passport or ID card they can reside in Spain
as long as they like. Nevertheless, citizens of
the rest of the world need a visa in their passport
if they wish to remain in Spain more than 90 days.
Student visas:
Consulates handle the following visas directly:
studies in centers of university level, post degree
studies or scholarship holders of the Spanish Government.
The process takes 2 working days, from the moment
the complete documentation is presented. For other
studies such as primary, high education, not regulated
superior studies, etc. the visa application must
be examined by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in
Madrid, that is why the process takes a minimum
of 1 month from the moment the student presents
all the documentation in the Consulate.
Required documentation:
To apply for a student visa the following requirements
are necessary: The application has to be presented
personally at the consulate where an application
will be facilitated free of charge. The application
must be completed and the following documentation
should be attach to it. : * 4 recent photographs,
passport size, stapled on each copy of the application. * Passport valid
for a minimum of 120 days (original and 1 photocopy
of the first 3 pages, and the page where the renovation
is signed, if necessary). * Documentation
(original and 1 photocopy) that certifies the fulfilment
of the following requirements.
* To be admitted and registered as a student in
a public or private establishment in which the visa
candidate will attend his classes, with a schedule
and a period of not less than three months.
* Guaranteed economic means necessary to support
the cost of his studies, as well as the expenses
of stay and return to its home country (savings,
credits, parents or tutors financial support, credited
by means of banking accounts extracts, Term deposit,
bills, etc.).
* Medical insurance
* Medical certificate of not suffering infected-contagious
disease, drug addiction nor mental disease. * In the case of
minors, authorization of the parents or tutors for
the displacement to Spain with the purpose of conducting
studies and with reference to the training center
and the anticipated period of the stay (original
and 1 photocopy).
Work: The person
who wishes to work in Spain must have the permission
of the Ministry of Labour. In the case of students
that are not citizens of the European Union the
diplomas must be homologated. Foreign students who
hold a student card are exceptionally allowed to
work for a maximum of 1 year or the remaining validity
of their cards as long as it is a career related
job. The request should be sent to the Delegations
or Sub delegations, and the Card that authorizes
to work will be delivered in the offices of the
police services (Office of “Extranjería”).
